Her Time to Talk: Feminist Counseling for Therapists Who Want to Fight the Patriarchy, One Session at a Time
Her Time to Talk is a feminist counseling podcast for therapists who work with women, hosted by Meagan Clark, MA, LPC, NCC, ACS, BC-TMH, clinical supervisor and founder of Her Time Therapy.
If you've ever sat across from a client and thought, "This isn't a disorder, this is what happens to a woman when everything is expected of her and nothing is given back," this show is for you. The personal is political. Here's what that actually looks like in the therapy room.
Every other week, Meagan takes one pattern you'll recognize from your own caseload: chronic guilt, people-pleasing, the caregiver who can't stop, the client who apologizes for having needs and conceptualizes it out loud through a feminist, trauma-informed lens. Sometimes the "client" is a fictional character you already know. Sometimes she's a composite from fifteen years of work with women. Either way, you'll leave with language, a conceptualization, and one thing to try in session this week.
You'll hear:
Feminist case conceptualization, step by step, not just the theory
How to name the social contract behind a woman's symptoms without losing clinical rigor
What to do with anger, guilt, self-silencing, and the "good girl" script
How current events land in women's bodies, and in your sessions
What feminist clinical supervision actually sounds like
This podcast is also for women who want to understand their own patterns. You're welcome here. If you've never had a therapist explain what's actually going on, this is what it sounds like when one does.

Today’s episode is a call to awareness, a call to action—and above all, a call to compassion.
At Her Time Therapy, we practice from a feminist counseling lens, which means we don’t view mental health in a vacuum. Systems, policies, and power structures deeply shape our emotional lives, and right now, those structures are failing women—especially those who are most marginalized.
In this episode, we explore how political rhetoric and policy decisions—especially those under the Trump administration—have actively harmed women’s mental and physical health. From Medicaid cuts and mental health stigma to abortion bans and scientific censorship, we trace the throughline between harmful leadership and the rising emotional toll on women across the country.
We talk candidly about:
How cuts to Medicaid and the ACA disproportionately impact women (KFF, 2020)
The gutting of mental health programs and mocking of depression and anxiety
Trump’s anti-science policies, including the CDC’s banned language list (Washington Post, 2017)
The dismantling of abortion access and its consequences for maternal health (The Lancet, 2021; ACOG, 2023)
The erasure of gendered and LGBTQ+ language in federally funded research
Why seeking support is not just personal—it’s political
If you’ve ever felt ashamed for needing help, or enraged by the growing barriers to care, you are not alone. We see you. And we believe that caring for your mental health is an act of resistance.
